(Kyodo photo)JAKARTA - The number of Indonesian travellers to Japan reached an all-time high of 17,900 in February, up 49.6% from a year ago, due to affordable plane tickets, the increasingly stable Indonesian economy and the easing of Japan's visa rules, according to the Japan National Tourism Organisation (JNTO). JNTO said a total of 270,947 Indonesians travelled to Japan last year, up 32.1% from 2015. She added that on one day approximately 1,800 Indonesians applied for a visa. Nova Auliatun Nisa, assistant manager of JNTO's Jakarta office, said that inexpensive flight tickets are mainly responsible for the recent surge in the number of Indonesian tourists to Japan, along with the favourable local economic climate and Japan's eased visa policy.
